About
This class is for people who want to be parents, or may want to be parents. Guests will speak on their decision to become parents, their experience with pregnancy and birth, and their new lives with children. We'll have guest babies - if you haven't held a baby this year (very normal in such an atomized society!) come hold and play with a baby.
We'll have four classes, with a rough schedule as follows:
- We'll watch some births on video, and listen to guest speakers share about their birth experience.
- We'll have guest speakers & a class discussion on family planning. How did young parents know they were ready? What did they wish they had known or done before having kids?
- Spend time with babies. A bunch of our friends will bring their young kids, and we’ll hang out with them.
- Baby and toddler education. We’ll place a special focus on Montessori theory & practice.
Homework
This class is purposefully light on homework. However we will have optional assignments including:
- Readings & videos on birth, parenthood, etc.
- Babysitting a child under 5, with or without the parent home
- I will introduce you to some parents who would love help 🙂
- Conversations with your partner about when to have kids and what infrastructure you want in place before you have kids
The teacher

Priya Rose is pregnant with her first child, and putting this class together as much for herself as for you ☺️. She’s also shamelessly seeking to find some trusted babysitters for when her baby is born in April.
She’s a software engineer, writer, and community builder based in Brooklyn.
