Learn how to create a radio show from scratch!

Radio is not just about music — which is a big part of it, of course. It’s about being completely in the present moment as you talk to a live audience like you’re speaking to a singular person — a singular person you care deeply about. It is the greatest kind of meditation and Nowness that exists. And only a couple hundred people in the world have ever experienced the high of it.

In this class, we’ll be producing the first episode of Fractal Radio. My goal is for Fractal Radio to eventually become a weekly show inspired by the soundscape of NYC, community living and building scrappily and with love. We’ll stream on Twitter Spaces, and share original music, personal stories, and ourselves.

Your only goal is to make your listeners smile; to make them feel warm, comforted and cared for, and if you’re lucky, be the reason they laugh from their bellies. One of the greatest gifts you can give to a person, alongside some of the best music in the world.

As a former radio host, I will teach you the A - Z of radio. Think of it like reviving zines as an artistic medium, but with your actual voice.

You will learn all of the following:

  1. The history of radio
  2. The history of radio in India, the most prolific radio content creator in the world. I was an RJ (radio jockey) on Radio Mirchi in Dubai for a year with my own show that I produced and wrote, and produced and wrote the world’s first ever AI radio show.
  3. The philosophy of radio and why it matters
  4. How to produce a radio show
  5. How to become a radio host
  6. Editing and creating music/sound bites for radio with Adobe Audition
  7. How to love people you’re speaking to, even when you can’t see them and don’t know who they are
  8. What the inner workings of radio looks like: from behind the scenes trade secrets to all the ways it has altered and lost itself

If you’re interested in learning how to play with being a radio host, a radio producer, are a DJ/music producer who wants to share their work and learn about radio alongside all of us, what it takes to market radio — join me! You’ll learn all of that and more.

All I ask is that you commit to learning every part of this endeavor. Commit to playing every role with everything you are able to give me — and I promise you, you’ll learn some incredibly beautiful skills that make a meaningful impact to your life in ways you cannot imagine, and in ways I am still unable to articulate. I promise.

I am undertaking this project with a long-term vision. I intend to create a Fractal radio show that continues with or without me — my aim is to let people from all over the world experience what Fractal is and what it has to offer — this will end up being a long term project.

It’s okay if we fail, if we have to pivot, if it doesn’t go the way we want it to! The point is to try and learn as much as we can along the way. There will be at least 3 workshops this year where we will iterate over time & sit with the experience of each workshop for a few months.

You don’t have to join each workshop! But if you feel so inclined, the continuity and consistency would be remarkable to be able to create.

Lots of love, and looking forward to seeing my radio pioneers soon!

Cheers, Ms. G
