About
Tango goes beyond steps; it is a journey of mindfulness and connection, akin to a meditation for two. Through tango, one can learn awareness and presence, as well as playfulness and connection. This class will be an opportunity for people with no tango background, or a limited knowledge of the dance, to get a working understanding of its dynamics, and to come into contact with its sublime essence.
The cohort approach will enable us to build on skills weekly and get comfortable dancing together. The class will throughout integrate knowledge on tango music and what the NYC scene looks like, with the aim of preparing participants to part take in the city’s dance world. To that end, we will do a group visit to a Milonga (Tango Social Dance) at the end of the course.
The teacher
Born and raised in Turkey, Eran Polat has immersed himself in the world of tango for over a decade, both as a dedicated student and passionate teacher. Coming from a lineage of musicians, he found in tango not just a dance, but a profound connection to one's self, partner, music, and movement. Having traveled extensively and studied under esteemed masters, Polat brings a wealth of experience and insight to his teaching.
